1. Visit the number 1 most beautiful area of Santorini “Oia”. Oia is a very popular and rich area because in the past due to the export of wine to other countries , a lot of ship captains used to live there. On the top of Oia you are going to walk through narrow paths and you are going to see a lot of captain houses , from the architecture you can realize how wealthy these people were. To continues with , this is the area where you are going to find the most famous Blue Domed churches , they are located on the cliffside. Last but not least make sure to visit also the castle of Oia in order to get some beautiful pictures and why not to see the sunset from there!
2. Do the “hiking trail” from Fira to Oia! If you are from those people that love to enjoy walking then definately you need to do this! This is a unique experience , the hiking trail is about 6 miles and as walking you are going to have amazing caldera view on the whole part of the walking path. The only thing that you need to make sure is to have water with you , wear comfortable shoes and cloths, use suncream and wear a hat.
*Very important , in June | July | August start the hiking early in the morning or during evening because the temperatures are really high during afternoon*
3. Visit the Local Village “Pyrgos”! If you really want to have a unique local experience in Santorini then make sure to visit Pyrgos Village. It has a lot of steps around but its really worth to see it , you will be able to see amazing narrow paths , cave houses , beautiful churches all around the village and on the top of the village , go to the highest point of the castle and admire the fantastic scenery!If you have time you can go to the main square of the village and enjoy your coffee or lunch under the beautiful trees.
4. Relax and swim and Perissa “Black Sand Beach”!If you are coming for a few days on the island , this is a really interesting place to see and to stay to. You can find reasonable prices at the hotels and you can enjoy the beach every day. There you can find a lot of restaurants , beach bars , cafeterias , water sports etc.
5. Visit a winery and do “wine tasting”! Santorini is not only very popular for its outstanding views , but also for its tasty wine! Due to the volcanic soil the wineyards have a very unique taste and due to the climate they have a really interesting way that they grow up! Try the most popular wine which is Vinsanto and Assyrtiko.
8. Make a stop at “Firostefani” to see one of the most beautiful churches of Santorini , Blue domed Church with 3 Bells and the Volcano scenery behind as a background.
9. Go to a local taverna at the Black Sand Beach and enjoy “the local dishes” of the island like Domatokeftedes , Fava and Santorinian Salad , get the fresh fish of the day and enjoy a glass of Assyrtiko wine.
